BSA Event Calendar 2021

The UK Spearfishing Competition season is upon us! Usually this starts a couple of months earlier, but lets face it, 2021 isn’t a typical year… That’s not to say every event on the calendar is of a competitive nature. Over the last few years, the BSA has added social dives to the calendar to encourage new Spearos to come along and learn from some of the most experienced in the country! So without further adieu, see below for this years BSA events:

11th – 12th September 2021 – The Peter Crawford Memorial Weekend:

This is a special weekend in the calendar we take to remember and celebrate Britain’s most successful Spearo of all time. Pete was British champion 12 times, and was the European Champion of Champions in 1981; won at Ustica, Italy. The loss of Pete in 2016 was a huge blow for British Spearfishing, so we take this weekend to remember and celebrate his legacy. One that is still highly respected among the worlds elite Spearos to this day.

This event takes place at Pentewan Sands Holiday park in Cornwall, and is organised by the Crawford Family. See below Google Maps image of the general area:

25th September 2021 – The LIC Pairs Competition:

This competition is not part of the BSA National Championship. It is organised by the London International Spearfishing Club (LIC) and often attracts large amounts of Spearos from across the country.

The nature of this competition is that you and a partner enter, and can fish where ever you please within the country. The main objective is to be back at the designated weigh in area by a specified time or be disqualified. This often brings a wide variety of species, where any Spearo of any skill level is welcome. This competition is traditional held at Portland Bill in Dorset. However, this year the venue has moved to Plymouth, Devon.

The full details and exact location of the weigh in for this event are still being worked out. So keep an eye on the LIC Facebook page using the link below for further details:
